If God said he'd never send another global flood, should we believe that global warming will take place?  Then all the ice-bergs would melt and cause a global flood.

Yes, God promises that “Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”  see Genesis Chapter 9 verse 11 onwards.

Well global warming is taking place at the moment – that's a measured fact.  However, contrary to what some say there are different opinions on the reasons for this.  But let's not get all scientific now.  

 

Really you are asking a question about whether we can trust what God has said in the Bible.  

Maybe in your mind you are thinking, “if I believe what everyone's saying about this world-wide flood that's coming then I can't believe the specific promise God made in the Bible.”  

 

There are probably other circumstances we may come across in our everyday lives where we could be tempted to think that they pretty much prove that what God says in the Bible can't be trusted: - i.e. “he said he created everything but people say it all just evolved”; “he said he's a loving God but wars keep happening” etc

 

It comes down to trust...  

Do you trust God as he has shown himself in the Bible?  That he's in control of all things – that he's the Creator and Sustainer of life on this planet and that he's sent Jesus as our Saviour?

If you say “yes” to these questions, that's a firm foundation to face the many questions life throws at us.

 

So you can have complete trust in the promise of God in this instance: “never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth”.

But more amazing, you can have complete trust in the God who made this promise – he'll never let us down.
