“ So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Colossians 2:6-7

If God is a good person why does he let bad things happen?

We have rebelled and gone our own selfish way.  But God will NOT crush our will and turn us into robots by taking away our decision-making abilities.  No, he allows us to make choices and he allows us to experience the consequences of these choices.  So in a world that has turned away from God since the beginning of time there is a pile-up of pain, brokenness, hatred and frustration.  We see it on the news but we also see it with our friends, in our families and in our own hearts.

The wonderful thing is that God loves you.  ‘He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance2 Peter Ch 3 v9. He loves all those he has made and although he doesn’t promise to whisk us out of this hurting world as soon as we trust in him he does promise to give us a new life of joy in our hearts, even in sorrow, and peace in our souls, even in pain.  Jesus died to pay the price of sin so we don’t have to be lost forever; so we can finally live at peace with our Creator and our Father, even when the world is crumbling around us!
